January 17th, 2011Hi, a friend of mine just called me to ask about someone calling from this number saying exactly as the previous person about a £7000 council tax refund. she did not know if it was true. i googled and found out its obviously a scam and told her under no circumstances to give out bank details or card number. this scam is obviously still going on so beware.

Caller said I was entitled to a Government pay-back of £7000 since I had been paying my Council Tax regularly for many years by Direct Debit.An ‘Approval Number’ was provided and I was asked to ring a Manager to process my claim.

I have just received the same call giving me an approval number and asking me to phone the accounts dept on 02071937246 where i should quote the approval number in order to receive the money from the British government within 45 mins of calling.
What a scam please don’t be fooled as i nearly was.
