January 14th, 2011My mum has just had a phone call from this number saying that they are from the local council tax rebate department. My Mum who is elderly questioned what it is about and the lady who said she was called Anne got really shirty with my Mum. I checked on Google for her and surprise surprise it's a scam. They're saying that you've been paying too much for your council tax and that you're due a refund of approximately £800. They then ask you to pay £30 admin costs and to give them your bank account details so that they can pay your refund directly into your account.
